GARY J KIROUAC –
2nd one I have owned the first one even though they are sealed a sealed battery the top can be removed and you can use a baster syringe with distilled water to top off adding many more years. I missed doing this however this battery lasted 5+ years!!! If you examine the top of the battery you will notice a plastic cover which covers the rubber cell refill caps. remove is using a turkey flavor injector syringe carefully not to over fill each cell. For best results FIRST PLACE your battery in a empty plastic tub HOWEVER DO NOT REPLACE THE RUBBER CAPS JUST YET . next connect your battery charger and start charging. when complete wipe off any water on the top of the battery THEN reinstall the rubber caps. NEXT Using some clear silicone or any color you like reseal the plastic cover. You now have a battery which will work for a few more years. IMPORTANT NOTE. When you first remove the cover and then the rubber caps using a flashlight look into each cell to make sure they are still covered with water… if not you were too late and the plates will be ruined. Best practice is to remove the cover no later that the 3rd year. Check the water level and refill then. Set many reminders using your phone or calendar or any other reminder program you have. When that reminder goes off do not delay or put off do what I said right away and you will get many many more free years out of your lead-acid batteries. I run a 28 battery backup system and I was able using this practice to get 15 solid years from those batterys. This info is free enjoy!
